Big Celebrations at St. Luke’s Home yesterday where Ita O’ Donovan (pictured with Lord Mayor Tony Fitzgerald and PFH CEO Paul Callaghan) celebrated her 100th Birthday! On the same day St. Luke’s Home launched its ‘Cycling without Age’ initiative with a Trishaw kindly donated by PFH Technology Group in Little Island.

Fundraiser evening for St. Lukes home Cork that took place on Friday May 19th 2017 at the Cork Racecourse. Presented by Edelle Notte with interviews with Oonagh O’Driscoll marketing & fundraising manager, Sandra O Sullivan who is Clinical Nurse Manager in Maguire house, Celine O Shea is Activities Co-ordinator, Maguire House, Jane Appleby whom is a past relative and current volunteer and Sara O Connell a current relative who’s Dad is at St. Lukes home.

The Foundation is delighted to report the funds raised in the Afternoon Tea/Fashion Event came to €4,500. Huge credit goes to Denise Ginn, a relative at St. Luke’s Home who put the whole event together, she is a true ambassador for St. Luke’s Home. The video captures the day perfectly, it was a fun filled community focused fundraiser involving all the stake holders at St. Luke’s Home and hopefully the first of many.

St Lukes home were delighted to play host to a group of 22 business students and their professors from Caldwell University, New Jersey, USA. Their day in Cork consisted of a trip to Janssen which included a tour of the plant and a presentation from the general manager, Kyran Johnson on the operation and business issues of the day. As part of Proclamation Day our Oldest Resident Ita O’ Donovan raised the National Flag followed by the singing of the National Anthem led by Nagle Community Schoool. Our Chaplain Rev. Sarah Marry led a short reflection and prayers and the event concluded with a few words shared by Ita O’ Donovan
St Luke’s Home is delighted to welcome Mrs Pauline O’Neill as its new Deputy Director of Nursing. Pauline joins the Home having worked in a senior management role in St Finbarrs Hospital for several years in the Care of the Elderly. With a Higher Diploma in Gerontology Pauline is delighted to be on the St Luke’s team and is looking forward to working with everyone in continuing and maintaining the excellent levels of care that St. Luke’s so far has achieved.
On Thursday, 10th September over 330 runners gathered in Mahon, Cork to support the first St Luke’s Home Memorial 5K Run. The St. Luke’s Home Foundation wanted to introduce an event to its calendar that embraced the Mahon Community, Health, Fitness and Fun. Everyone involved in the Charity is delighted that the event lived up to these expectations. It was also an opportunity to remember past residents and to involve people of all ages, all families, volunteers, supporters, staff, and indeed all who have an involvement, however small, with the Home.
