Mrs Pauline O’Neill – New Deputy Director of Nursing

St Luke’s Home is delighted to welcome Mrs Pauline O’Neill as its new Deputy Director of Nursing. Pauline joins the Home having worked in a senior management role in St Finbarrs Hospital for several years in the Care of the Elderly.  With a Higher Diploma in Gerontology Pauline is delighted to be on the St Luke’s team and is looking forward to working with everyone in continuing and maintaining the excellent levels of care that St. Luke’s so far has achieved.

St. Luke’s Home Inaugural Memorial 5km Run – Thursday 10th September 2015

On Thursday, 10th September over 330 runners gathered in Mahon, Cork to support the first St Luke’s Home Memorial 5K Run.  The St. Luke’s Home Foundation wanted to introduce an event to its calendar that embraced the Mahon Community, Health, Fitness and Fun. Everyone involved in the Charity is delighted that the event lived up to these expectations. ‘Living Well with Dementia’ Conference – 23rd April 2015

Over 300 delegates and 20 exhibitors gathered for St. Luke's Home Annual Conference at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cork last Thursday. The conference was a great success challenging delegates to 'think outside the box'. Chaplain to St. Luke’s Home

The Bishop of Cork, Cloyne and Ross, The Right Reverend Dr. Paul Colton has announced the appointment of Reverend Sarah Marry as Chaplain to St Luke’s Home. Since Rev. Brian O’Rourke moved to Portlaoise in December, Sarah has been regularly visiting the Home in her capacity as a curate in the parishes of Douglas Union with Frankfield. In this new appointment she will also serve as the Priest-in-Charge of the parish of St. Anne, Shandon. St Luke’s Home Presents Final Instalment of €1 million to Marymount Hospice in Cork

Five years ago, when the new Marymount University Hospital and Hospice in Cork was being built on its new site at Curraheen, County Cork, Bishop Paul Colton asked the Directors of St. Luke's Home in Cork to donate €1 million to the project, and they readily agreed.  The final instalment of that promised €1 million gift was paid recently. Bishop Colton, Chairperson of St. Luke's, was invited by the chairperson of Marymount, Professor Cillian Twomey, to visit the St. Luke's Home Day Care Unit at the Hospice which was built using the donation from St. Luke's.  Also present were the CEOs of [...]

New Director of Nursing

St Luke’s Home – an ecumenical church-based charity which has cared for the elderly as well as dementia and Alzheimer’s sufferers in Cork since 1872 – has started the new year by welcoming a new Director of Nursing to its management team. Neil Mackay was welcomed to his new post by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr Paul Colton, Bishop of Cork, and also Mr David O’Brien, CEO of St Luke’s. The new Director of Nursing started his work at the Home on 6th January.

St Luke’s Home, Cork launches its Dementia Friendly Community Project

St Luke’s Home, specialists in Dementia Care, along with Age Action and the Alzheimer’s society, all based in Mahon, delivered the first of their Dementia Care Workshops to staff of the retail outlets in Mahon Point on Wednesday 2nd October. The point of the workshop is to show retailers how they can become ‘Dementia Friendly’ to their customers. This is an exciting development from three charities with a common focus being, Care of the Older Person.
